Meet Your Hosts
Jamie Lange is the current KPPA Vice President.
Jamie was born and raised and still lives in the same small farm town community in Kansas. Jamie has raised her 6 children and built her dream studio. As many other photographers, her passion started in high school journalism class in the darkroom. She still remembers the smell of the darkroom and amazement of watching the photograph appear under the chemicals right before her eyes. Today, more than 20 years later, it’s a bit different but she still gets amazed by what a photograph can capture. The emotions of joy, happiness, togetherness. You can almost smell the newborn baby, hear the laughter, and feel the love.

Come tour a beautiful full-service photography studio and get a behind-the-scenes look at how it was designed and built, with insight into the building process, design choices, and future expansion plans. This 2,000 sq. ft. studio features 12-foot ceilings, multiple naturally lit shooting areas, and professional studio strobes for full creative control. It also includes exclusive access to a private 5-acre property with natural grasses, a wildflower field, and a charming vintage truck—perfect for outdoor sessions just steps from the studio. Enjoy snacks and connect with fellow photographers while you explore the space.
Ashley joined KPPA in 2018 and currently serves as the organization's Treasurer. Her love of animals inspired her to specialize in pet portraiture, capturing the personalities of pets big and small. She is an Accredited Professional of Animal Photography and holds both her Master of Photography and Master Craftsman Degrees.
Ashley is also passionate about image competition and has been participating since 2019. In 2022, she was a Grand Imaging Finalist in the Animal Category. She continues to grow, refine her skills, and share her love of pet photography with others. She is excited to connect with new members and offer guidance and inspiration along the way!

Stop in to tour Ashley's studio, designed with pets in mind! Learn helpful tips and tricks for creating amazing pet portraits. You'll also have the chance to ask questions and get answers about the process of working toward your PPA Degree and participating in image competition. Whether you're just curious or seriously pursuing competition or your degree, it's a great chance to learn, connect, and get the answers to your burning questions.
Susan is our current KPPA President.
Susan graduated from Emporia State University with an Associate Degree in Photographic Media. Right out of College she landed her first job at Meyer & Williams Photography where she worked as a head photographer for 10 years. In 1996 she opened Susan’s Portrait Designs and will celebrate 30 years this year. In 2013, she and her husband built an all-natural light studio and outdoor area. Sadly, Rodger passed away in 2020 but Susan has continued to create beautiful portraits in the studio they built together. Susan has earned her Master Craftsmen Degree & has won many awards in Photography competitions, especially in the Children category.
